54 Day Novena for Life in Ohio

Catholics across Ohio are praying a 54-Day Rosary Novena from Sept. 15–Nov. 7.

We're asking for the protection of human life and the defeat of Issue 1 on the Ohio ballot this November.

The novena is a rosary each day, but with a twist to the typical mystery schedule, and a few added prayers throughout.

As men committed to their faith, we seek tangible reminders of our devotion. Grab a Rosary shirt.

Praying the 54 Day Novena

  1. Hail Mary

  2. Opening Prayer

    1. Part 1
Hail, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, my Mother Mary, hail!

At thy feet I humbly kneel to offer thee a Crown of Roses, snow white buds to remind thee of thy joys, each bud recalling to thee a holy mystery, each 10 bound together with my petition for a particular grace.

O Holy Queen, dispenser of God’s graces, and Mother of all who invoke thee, thou canst not look upon my gift and fail to see its binding.

    2. Part 2 (Sept. 15–Oct. 11, first 27 days)
As thou receivest my gift, so wilt thou receive my petition; from thy bounty thou wilt give me the favor I so earnestly and trustingly seek. I despair of nothing that I ask of thee. Show thyself my Mother!

      Part 2 (Oct. 12–Nov. 7, last 27 days)
As thou receivest my gift, so wilt thou receive my thanksgiving; from thy bounty thou hast given me the favor I so earnestly and trustingly sought. I despaired not of what I asked of thee, and thou hast truly shown thyself my Mother!

  3. Determine the rosary mysteries each day
Rotate through the Joyful, Sorrowful, and Glorious every three days.

    1. Joyful
    2. Sorrowful
    3. Glorious
    4. Repeat every 3 days

  4. Pray the rosary as normal, but add the concluding prayer (below) after each decade.

  5. Concluding prayer after each decade

I bind these snow-white buds with a petition for the virtue of humility and humbly lay this bouquet at thy feet.

  6. Hail Holy Queen

  7. Concluding prayer

    1. Sept. 15–Oct. 11, First 27 days
Sweet Mother Mary, I offer thee this spiritual communion to bind my bouquets in a wreath to place upon thy brow. O my Mother! Look with favor upon my gift, and in thy love obtain for me (specify request).

    2. Oct. 12–Nov. 7, Last 27 days
Sweet Mother Mary, I offer thee this Spiritual Communion to bind my bouquets in a wreath to place upon thy brow in thanksgiving for (specify request) which thou in thy love hast obtained for me.

  8. One more Hail Mary
